Cedar Rapids Washington’s Miles Thompson named Most Outstanding Performer among high school boys at Drake Relays
He set the 100-meter record and ran on the Warriors’ record-setting 4x100 relay

DES MOINES — Miles Thompson of Cedar Rapids Washington has been named the 2023 Drake Relays most outstanding performer in the high school boys’ division.
Thompson, a senior and a Texas Tech University recruit, set the Drake record in the 100-meter dash, winning in 10.37 seconds, an effort that ranks No. 2 all-time in Iowa.
He also ran the second leg of the Warriors’ winning 400-meter relay. The Warriors set a Drake record in 41.71 seconds, which ranks No. 3 all-time in Iowa.
Ali Frandsen of Ames won the girls’ award. She won the 100- and 400-meter hurdles and anchored the runner-up shuttle hurdle relay team.
