Girls track 2012: Individuals to watch

Area girls to watch in track and field this spring, with their state placements in 2011:

LAUREN BENZING, jr., Solon -- Earned 3rd place in Class 3A 800, 3,000 and distance medley relay, 4th in 1,500.

EMILY BRANSKY, sr., Solon -- Member of Class 3A runner-up 800 relay, 3rd in long jump, 4th in 100, 7th in 200.

McKENNAN CRONBAUGH, jr. Iowa City West -- Class 4A champion in the long jump, 2nd in 400 relay, 3rd in 200, 7th in 100.

BROOKE FOREMAN, sr., Cedar Rapids Washington -- Class 4A champion in 400 hurdles, 4th in 100 hurdles and shuttle hurdle relay, 5th in 400 relay.

ABBY GREEN, sr., Cascade -- Member of 2A state-champion 800 relay, 3rd in 1,600 relay, 4th in 400 hurdles.

DAKOTAH GOODELL, sr., Williamsburg -- Class 3A champion in the discus, 7th in shot put.

LINDSEY KITE, jr., Jesup -- Class 2A state-champion in 800, 2nd in 3,200 relay, 6th in distance medley relay.

EMILY TOENNIES, jr., Belle Plaine -- Class 1A state champion in 200, 400 and sprint medley relay, 2nd in 100.

MADISON WEEKLY, jr., Benton Community -- Class 3A runner-up in the 800, 3rd in 3,200 relay, 4th in 1,500 and distance medley relay.

SHAHANA WILLIAMS, sr., Iowa City West -- 4th in Class 4A 100 and 200, 2nd in 4oo relay, 4th in 800 relay.
