Finalists for Athlete of the Week

Here are the finalists for this week's KCRG-TV9 Athlete of the Week.
Abby Green
Cascade
Track and Field
Abby is the senior leader on one of the best relay teams in the entire state, regardless of class. Cascade has the top relay teams in Class 2A. At the ISU meet in Ames they placed 2nd in two relays, the sprint medley and 4x400. This was a meet with all classes involved.
At the Dickinson relays they won 4x400, they were 3rd in the 4x200, again another meet where 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A teams all competed. Cascade is a 2A school. Abby medaled four times last year at state, including an individual 4th place finish in the 400 hurdles.
Brandon Ophoff
Linn-Mar
Track and Field
Brandon, a senior for the Lions, won the 60m hurdles at the Ames Indoor State meet in 8.13 seconds, where 125 hurdle runners competed. The 8.13 time is one of the fastest 60m hurdles times in a long time. At the Dickinson Indoor Relays he won in a time of 8.29 seconds. Brandon has also already won titles indoor at Ames, Waverly, and Iowa City this year along with the Dickinson. He also runs on the shuttle hurdle relay team, and the 4x400. They have one of the best relays in the state for both. He was the state pentathlon champion from a year ago.
His coach says he is incredibly smart and dedicated. He is a 4.35 student. His coach says his worst grade ever might be an 'A'.
Brandon finished 5th last year at state in the 110 hurdles, has lofty goals this year to win. He will run track next year for Iowa State.
Allie Sindlinger

Gymnastics
Allie is a level 9 gymnast. Last year she was the State Champ on the balance beam. She finished 2nd on the floor exercise and tied for 5th in the All-Around. This year she has been the balance beam champ three times, in Iowa City, Milwaukee, and Wisconsin Dells. She is one of only four seniors competing this year in the state of Iowa.
This year she placed 1st on the beam at the Wisconsin Dells classic, at that same meet she was 3rd on the floor. Most recently at the Northern Lights Classic she was 3rd on the vault, 5th on the beam and 8th in the All-Around competition. She competes for the Cedar Rapids Twisters.
