Boys track 2012: Individuals to watch

Area boys to watch in track and field this spring, with their state placements in 2011:

ROBBIE ANSTOETTER, sr., Dyersville Beckman -- 4th in Class 2A 1,600 relay, 5th in 400 relay and 800 relay, 7th in 3,200 relay.

JACOB BLACK, soph., Monticello -- Member of Class 2A 3rd-place 1,600 medley relay, 4th in 1,600 relay.

JOSH EVANS, soph., Linn-Mar -- 8th place in Class 4A 3,200. State cross country runner-up last fall.

JARED GANSCHOW, jr., Clear Creek Amana -- Member of Class 3A champion 1,600 relay, 2nd in 200 and 400, 4th in 100.

WILL GRIFFIN, sr., Cedar Rapids Washington -- Class 4A runner-up in the 100, 3rd in 800 relay, 4th in 400 relay.

JEREMY JOHNSON, sr., Iowa City High -- 4th place in Class 4A high jump, 5th in shuttle hurdle relay.

BRANDON OPHOFF, sr., Linn-Mar -- Member of Class 4A state runner-up shuttle hurdle relay team, 5th in 110 hurdles.

ISAAC SHAULL, sr., Tri-County -- Member of Class 1A champion in the 800 relay, 5th in 200, 8th in 100.

CONNER SMOCK, sr., Lisbon -- Class 1A state champion in 3,200, 2nd in 1,600, 4th in 800, 6th in 1,600 medley relay.

TY TROUTMAN, sr., Dyersville Beckman -- 4th in Class 2A 1,600 relay, 5th in 400 relay and 800 relay, 6th in 100.
