This free, adult program by Kathy Wilson looks at Mary Shelly's life to learn more about her and understand why the fascination with "Frankenstein" continues. The daughter of 18th century radicals, Mary Shelly was disowned by her family and ostracized by 19th century society when she ran off with a married man at the age of 16. Deadwood Saloon Murder Mystery: 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 14, Granger House, 970 10th St., Marion. For weeks, people have been pouring into the small Western town of Deadwood for the biggest poker tournament this side of the Mississippi. From outlaws to marshals and saloon girls to Southern belles, everyone has made this small Western frontier town the place to be.
