Thank Yous

Thank You from the Bottom of My 'Newly Mended' Heart (part 2)

(continued from previous page)

- My heart has also been inspired by a man who calls Cedar

Rapids his home. He's small in stature and slight of build. It's been said he wields one of the PGA Tour's best wedge games. He takes those custom-made "Bob Vokey" wedges and a Titleist "Pro-V 1" ball and with the spin he generates on the ball, it does a special dance while landing on all those "Rock Hard" dance floors of emerald green. I know it was tough on the 18th hole at the Deere to see his chip from the bunker go in. He just dusted himself off and took the BMW but then saved the best for L.A. worlds #1 and that career shot heard around the world. Damon and you were a special team with your yardage book marked for that key drop. You dropped a little white 3 crossed Pro-V1 ball and hit a very crisp shot; a GPS laser was sent. The shot did its beautiful, small dance, passed the pin and then cue ball spinned back to its final resting place, the "bottom of the 18th hole". Each of us in Cedar Rapids on that faith-filled day arose from our chairs and just threw our hands high. You have been so inspirational to me and many others; and never, ever quit. You must feel so blessed to have your beloved "Sea More" putter in your Titleist golf bag and always by your side.

- Amana Colonies Golf Course - you provided my "old" and hopefully also my "newly mended" heart with some of the most beautiful views, especially after a good drive on the 15th tee to the top of the hill. This is such an amazing and glorious view of the lovely manmade lake with all those geese, the 2 very large white trumpeter swans which visited last fall and also the majestic clubhouse set off with its spires that almost seem to touch the sky.

- My 2 personal kryptonites, "Jack Peacock" and "Mr. Guy Smith" - I think we were almost 50/50 wins vs. losses over all those years! You both always got nothing but my 110% game. Likewise, I received nothing but 120% and your best games.

- Thank you to the Mended Hearts club for visiting me while in the hospital at Mercy and for the heart pillow that you provided me with while recuperating from my surgery at St. Luke's.

- Thanks to the Rockwell Rec Center and the entire staff, especially Michael Duffy, Jamie and Sandy. You run one of the finest

facilities in the entire Midwest. My morning Pickleball team at the rec center, we have some very spirited and demanding games.

- One last thank you, to all the past members of the B.A.G.

league, those Tuesday nights were some of the most memorable that we spent together. To all my old teammates of B/P

Associates, "B", you were the very best sponsor any of us could have ever wished for or had.

Two famous quotes to live by from Abraham Lincoln:

- In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.

- All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother!

The loving angels that were on loan to me from God…
