Watch: Mount Vernon upsets West Delaware on last-second hook-and-ladder

Paul Ryan scored on a hook-and-ladder play with no time on the clock as Mount Vernon squeezed past Class 3A fourth-ranked West Delaware, 35-33, Friday night in a prep football game in Mount Vernon.

Ryan finished with 192 yards on 27 rushes, scoring on runs of 6 and 57 yards and the last-play 42-yarder.

The Mustangs (1-2) got the ball with 24.7 seconds left and ran two hook-and-ladder plays. On the final play, which started with 2.5 seconds left, quarterback Brady Ketchum passed to Blake Booth, who pitched the ball to Ryan.





Booth also scored a TD for Mount Vernon (2-1), Tyler Elliott kicked a 34-yard field goal and Nick Casey recovered a fumble in the end zone for a TD.

West Delaware’s Nick Casey completed 23 of 41 passes for 225 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. Kyle Kelley caught both TD passes. Caleb Kehrli totaled 119 yards on 28 rushes and also scored a TD for the Hawks (2-1).
