IOWA CITY — For Gabbie Marshall, the third visit was the charm.
A 5-foot-9 junior guard from Mason, Ohio, Marshall gave an oral commitment Sunday to play for the University of Iowa women's basketball team.
'The coaches were genuine and honest with me,' Marshall said Sunday evening. 'It felt like family. It felt special and real.'
Marshall also had offers from Marquette, Loyola of Chicago, Miami (Ohio), Xavier, Dayton and Northern Kentucky, and also had visited Florida and Michigan.
Last season, Marshall averaged 13.8 points and 3.0 steals per game as Mount Notre Dame High School in Cincinnati went 26-4 and captured the Ohio Division 1 state championship.
