I have read many letters and thoughts on Facebook thanking all of the doctors, nurses, etc. and essential workers for doing their jobs during this national crisis. However, there is another group of people out there who also need to be thanked for stepping up and helping so many in different ways.
It was announced that medical personal were short on masks, hats and other major items to fight this virus. n come the people around the country who know how to sew. Our church is a small congregation and we have 8 quilters that meet once a month to make world relief quilts. When the call came out for the need of masks from the hospitals, care centers, fire departments, churches etc., we dug into our stash of fabric, elastic, bias tape and started to make what they needed. We did not question we just went to work. Our congregation is helping out by cutting the mask patterns out so we just need to sew and distribute.
All across the country men and women are sitting hours at their sewing machines and making needed supplies that will some how help slow down the progression of the virus. To them we owe a thank you for the long hours you put in at your machines in an effort to do your part as you stay home and stay inside. May God bless you and keep those machines humming.
