Satire: People overreacting to supremacist posters

I see the subversives are active again in Iowa City with their despicable and racist “it’s OK to be white” posters. The State Board of Criminal Investigation should be called in to do fingerprint and D.N.A. analysis of the posters so the troglodyte responsible can be apprehended and then sent to rehabilitation or re-education camp. If this outrage is not nipped in the bud, I can see even worse atrocities on the horizon.

It’s a small step from “white people are OK” to “heterosexual males are OK,” “capitalism is OK,” “eating meat is OK,” “fishing is OK,” to even “voting Republican on occasion is OK.” We will know we have really lost control if “build the wall” posters or, nirvana forbid, pro-Trump signs appear.

Before these cataclysms occur, I suggest Iowa City institute two counter measures. First, the city council should form a committee — the UnIowa City Activities Committee — to hold public hearings to investigate these nefarious poster incidents. Second, Iowa City Schools should better emphasize teaching students what to think rather than how to think. Iowa City must not ever be thought of as a community tolerant of views, which it judges as intolerant.
