On Aug. 5, my neighbors Mary and Matt Cohen and I published an opinion piece in the Press-Citizen calling for the Coralville City Council to be more committed to kindness and care.
Less than a month later, we were thrilled and encouraged to learn that Hai Huynh had announced her bid for the recently vacated Coralville City Council seat. Hai is Coralville Food Pantry’s Community Projects Coordinator and a mother of four who has chosen Coralville as her family’s hometown for the last 20-plus years.
My two teenagers are similar in age to Hai and her husband Nguyen’s older children so I’ve been fortunate to have been friends with Hai since our children first attended library story time together as preschoolers.
As a food pantry supporter, I have seen Hai’s compassion, dedication and excellent communication skills at work serving our community.
We invite our neighbors to read Hai’s People First Development plan and to learn her smart and inclusive ideas about affordable housing, supporting families, community mobility, racial and economic justice and climate action on her website haiforcoralville.com
Please join us in enthusiastically voting for Hai Huynh for Coralville City Council on or before September 29. We want Coralville to be a place where all residents have access to resources that help us thrive and where all of our voices are represented.
