Woman found dead on rural highway in Muscatine County

Authorities are investigating after a woman's body was found along the roadside in rural Muscatine County early Tuesday.
According to a news release, the Muscatine County Sheriff's Office received a call about 1 a.m. Tuesday reporting a woman lying on the side of the road along Highway 38, just north of County Road F70, about 5 miles north of Muscatine. When deputies arrived, they determined the woman was dead.
The sheriff's office did not release her identity or the cause of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
The Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Muscatine County Attorney's Office are assisting in the investigation.
