Iowa City man faces sexual abuse charges from incident including a handgun

An Iowa City man faces felony sexual abuse charges following a sexual assault that involved a handgun.

According to an Iowa City Police complaint, Quartez Andrew Lee Watson, 39, threatened to shoot a woman in the head with a handgun and choked her into unconsciousness in her home.

When the woman regained consciousness, police said Watson ripped the her underwear away and sexually assaulted her with the gun while threatening to shoot her if she “did not give into his demands.”

Watson faces a charge of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony punishable by up to 25 years in prison.
