According to an updated news release sent Sunday afternoon, There are no known threats to the public concerning this incident. Due to the ongoing investigation, no further information is available for release.
Two people were shot and injured early Saturday in downtown Iowa City, police said, and a suspect was being sought.
Responding to a report of shots being fired about 2 a.m. near the intersection of E. Court and S. Gilbert streets, Iowa City police found a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. A second male victim, also who apparently had been shot, was found a block away. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life-threating injuries, police said.
Police said they believe both were shot at the same location. Their names and ages have not been released.
An investigation to identify the assailant was ongoing Saturday. A HawkAlert issued by the University of Iowa said the suspect is a woman.
Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers, where tips can be given anonymously, at 319-358-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
