Coralville man convicted of sexually abusing 7-year-old and other related charges

IOWA CITY - A Coralville man pleaded guilty last week to sexually abusing a 7-year-old child last year and endangering the child by smoking methamphetamine while caring for the child.
Noel Duane Scott, 56, originally facing 13 charges, pleaded guilty Friday in Johnson County District Court to second-degree sexual abuse, felony child endangerment: meth exposure, child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor and dissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to a minor, a serious misdemeanor.
The remaining charges will be dismissed at sentencing.
Scott faces 25 years for the sexual abuse conviction and up to eight years on the other charges.
The complaints show Scott sexually abused the child, watched pornography with the child and smoked meth while caring for child between August and December 2017 and multiple times in January. The incidents took place in Coralville and Tiffin, according to the complaints.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 28.
