CEDAR RAPIDS - Noreen Bush, deputy superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District, will be the district's interim superintendent starting in July.
She will take over for Superintendent Brad Buck, who is leaving the district to be superintendent of Waukee Community School District.
Bush joined the Cedar Rapids district in 2017 and previously was director of secondary education and innovation in the College Community School District. She, like Buck, is a Jefferson High School graduate.
Bush's approval as interim superintendent will be on the agenda at a special Cedar Rapids School Board meeting at noon Friday, according to an email from district spokeswoman Akwi Nji.
'Due to the timing of Monday's announcement (late April) as well as a need to continue our work, the Board of Directors is recommending we proceed with naming an interim superintendent,” she said in the email, which was sent to staff and the media Wednesday evening. 'And then progress into a robust superintendent search and succession plan.”
Bush will continue in her role as deputy superintendent until July 1, when Buck departs the district.
