Riverside Casino and Golf Resort in Riverside will go through a $10 million remodel starting later this year.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission recently approved the casino’s remodeling plans, which include new furniture. carpets and wall coverings. The casino also plans to install an LED light show to replace a water feature at its center bar and move the hotel’s registration desk outside of Ruthie’s Steak House.

The remodel is expected to finish by early 2018. The casino and resort will remain open during renovations.

Changes at Riverside Casino come as Cedar Rapids waits for a decision on whether its downtown soon will see a casino. Three projects, which range from $40 million to $165 million, have been proposed for the city.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission is scheduled to hear from developers for the proposed casinos at its meeting in July with a vote on a license set for November.
