ACT buys college-planning business

Iowa City-based ACT announced on Tuesday its purchase of a college-planning company with offices in Boston, Austin, Texas, and Lee's Summit, Mo.
Not-for-profit ACT bought National Research Center for College and University Admissions from investment company Sterling Partners's Education Opportunity Fund for an undisclosed sum.
NRCCUA is the nation's largest career and college planning program, reporting more than 1,800 four-year not-for-profit colleges and universities as members, according to an ACT news release.
NRCCUA debuted Encoura Data Lab, which provides data, analytics, predictive modeling and research, in 2017 for enrollment officers.
The Gazette ACT Inc. of Iowa City continues to partner with Asian test-preparation operators despite reports of widespread cheating at overseas education centers it licenses to administer the college entrance exam.
