Rehab of Veterans Memorial Building's Grant Wood window about 75 percent complete
Feb. 9, 2010 11:00 am
The repair of the Veterans Memorial Building's flood-damaged Grant Wood-designed stained glass window is about 75 percent complete, Mike Jager, the city's Veterans Memorial director, reports.
Glass Heritage LLC of Davenport is doing the repair work.
Jager says the plan now is to return the window to the Veterans Memorial Building sometime between Memorial Day and July Fourth. The hope is that the window will be in place for the city's annual Freedom Festival, which begins in late June.
The window was designed by Grant Wood, built in Germany and installed at the entrance to the Veterans Memorial Building in 1929.
