New book is arriving on 2008 floods in Iowa

CEDAR RAPIDS -- A new book is out on the 2008 floods in Eastern Iowa with emphasis on flooding in Cedar Rapids.
It's called “The 1,000-Year Flood: Destruction, Loss, Rescue, and Redemption along the Mississippi River. The author, Stephen J. Lyons, lives in Monticello, Illinois.
Linda Seger, a leading voice in the flood-survival community in Cedar Rapids, says Lyons is the grandson of a Czech family who lived near Czech Village in Cedar Rapids. Seger says Lyons came to town right after the June 2008 flood and spent time here observing and interviewing people.
“He certainly pulls out some information that gives one reason to conclude that everything was not quite
just in the way the flood victims were considered,” Seger says.
