Most of work on Habitat's 20 new homes here should be done by Sept. 1

Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity expects to have most of the work completed on 20 new homes by Sept. 1, Jeff Capps, the group's executive director, reports to City Hall.
The home construction is part of the community's flood recovery effort and was helped along because it was part of a 20-home AmeriCorps Build-a-Thon project. At one point, Cedar Rapids native Kurt Warner, of NFL Football fame, was helping with the work.
Capps reports that most of the move-ins at the 20 homes will take place four to six weeks after the Sept. 1 date.
The homes have gone up on lots in existing new housing developments.
