Iowa names three new prison wardens
New leaders for prisons in Fort Madison, Newton and Mount Pleasant

The Iowa Board of Corrections has named new wardens for prisons in Fort Madison, Newton and Mount Pleasant.
The board on Friday approved the following warden appointments:
- Shawn Howard, Newton Correctional Facility and
- Marcy Stroud, Mount Pleasant Correctional Facility
- Chris Tripp, Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison
Howard has served as deputy warden at the Clarinda Correctional Facility since August 2019 and has 29 years of experience in corrections, the Iowa Department of Corrections said in a news release Friday.
Stroud is being promoted from deputy warden at Mount Pleasant and has served in the department since 1989.
Tripp, who has worked at the penitentiary since 1990, has served as the deputy warden there since 2017 and interim Warden since April.
