Freedom Festival huddles with City Hall to get July Fourth fireworks back downtown

Mayor Ron Corbett went into a City Hall meeting at 10:30 a.m. saying he would try to see what he can do to bring the July Fourth fireworks show back to the downtown.
That has been the Freedom Festival's desire, but apparently city officials have been balking at granting the festival's request.
Russ Oviatt, the festival's marketing director, said festival officials, Corbett, City Manager Jim Prosser and fire officials would be in this morning's meeting.
The festival has held the fireworks at Kirkwood Community College since the flood of 2008.
