FEMA to pay for $3.75 million fix at waste-water plant
Dec. 8, 2009 3:31 pm
The city is moving ahead with a project to make permanent repairs at an estimated cost of $3.75 million to its Water Pollution Control Facility, repairs necessitated by the June 2008 flood.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency will pay the costs.
In the weeks after the flood, emergency repairs were made to the facility, which sits close to the Cedar River near Highway 13. The permanent repairs will bring more reliability and redundancy to the facility, according to a city staff memo to the City Council.
The project includes work on the main lift station at the facility and the project will incorporate measures to protect against another flood.
Bids on the construction project will be opened Jan. 7.
