Dandekar launches TV ad in crowded 1st District field

Apr. 15, 2014 12:30 pm
Swati Dandekar of Marion is the third candidate in the race for the Iowa U.S. House 1st District nomination to begin airing television ads.
'Imagine' tells Dandekar's story from a young girl in India who worked hard to receive an education to a United States immigrant who became a mother, business-owner and public servant.
The 60-second spot touches on her service as a school board member state legislator, who worked on economic development issues and making Iowa No. 1 in wind energy.
Her life, according to the ad, is 'the dream we want for all our children.'
The ad, which was launched April 14, will be seen in the Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Waterloo-Cedar Falls markets — the population centers in the 20-county district. The campaign declined to talk about the specifics of the ad buy.
Dandekar's rivals Rep. Pat Murphy of Dubuque and Monica Vernon of Cedar Rapids also are running television spots.
