Competition, if there is one, over flood-damaged, former library extended to June 9

CEDAR RAPIDS -- The City Council is giving interested parties until June 9 now to submit a proposal to buy the city's flood-damaged library on First Street SE.
The competition, if there is one, was supposed to have ended on May 31.
TrueNorth, the insurance and financial services firm, was one entity that had been considering the old library, and local Realtor, Larry Sharp, said he had a client interested in the property.
Mayor Ron Corbett has said another entity also might be interested.
TrueNorth needs a new home because it has agreed to leave its current home across from Greene Square Park on Fourth Avenue SE to make way for the city's new $45-million library.
