CNN is in town for piece on Cedar Rapids flood recovery
Oct. 1, 2009 11:20 am
CNN is in Cedar Rapids today to shoot a news story about Cedar Rapids' flood recovery, reports Catie Kriewald, vice president of marketing and communications at the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
Kriewald says it is her understanding that CNN is focusing on Cedar Rapids businesses and their recovery from the June 2008 flood. She says the theme of the coverage might be the “forgotten disaster,” an expression the city's flood-recovery manager, Greg Eyerly, used in recent coverage in The New York Times and Time magazine.
Kriewald says CNN intends to interview Shannon Meyer, president/CEO of the Chamber, and Gary Ficken, who has headed up the Small Business Recovery Group and is the owner of a business, Bimm Ridder Sportswear, that was hit by the flood.
