City set to direct FEMA funds to fix electrical service in Ellis Boat Harbor

CEDAR RAPIDS – The City Council was set Tuesday to approve plans to spend up to $200,000 to repair the city's portion of an electrical system bringing power to the houses and boats at the Ellis Boat Harbor.
The money will come from $896,137 in disaster funds obligated to the city for the harbor by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
About $105,000 of the funds has been spent to date to replace boat slips in the harbor. Another $75,000 will be used for Alliant Energy's portion of the needed electrical repairs, with other of the funds going to repair damaged sheet piling, sidewalks and roadways, the city states.
