Bobby Kaufmann to seek re-election to sixth term in Iowa Legislature

Nov. 19, 2021 2:49 pm, Updated: Nov. 21, 2021 10:47 am
Wilton Republican Rep. Bobby Kaufman will run for re-election in 2022 in House District 82, which covers much of his current district as well as new territory in Muscatine and Scott counties.
Seeking a sixth-term, Kaufmann said “relentless fighters” are needed in the Legislature to protect Iowans’ values and freedoms.
“I’ve never backed down from a fight, and I’m certainly not backing down now during this critical time,” said Kaufmann, 36.
“From protecting the integrity of our elections to expanding funding opportunities for our emergency medical services workers, I have led the way as the Iowa House has delivered important wins for Iowans all across the state.”
Kaufmann is a crop and livestock farmer who owns and operates a steel hauling, construction and demolition business in Cedar County. He chairs the State Government Committee and serves on the Judiciary, Government Oversight and Ways and Means committees.
His current district covers Cedar County and the eastern portion of Johnson County. The new House 82 district includes all of Cedar County in addition to areas in Muscatine and Scott counties.
The redistricting plan approved earlier this fall had Kaufmann and fellow Republican Rep. Ross Paustian in House 82. Paustian, 65, has announced he will not seek re-election in 2022.
