Feb. 16, 2010 5:43 pm
The City Council this week will name 20 people to the city's Long-Term Planning Commission, which the city's Home Rule Charter requires to convene once every three years to develop a new long-term plan for the city.
The charter states that the commission must complete its work within six months and submit a plan to the City Council.
The 20 members include two previous members, Betsy Huston and Bill Prowell.
The new appointees also include Aaron Saylor and Ryan Russell, two of the younger candidates who ran unsuccessfully for City Council in last fall's election, as well as Sarah Henderson, who served on the City Council in 2006 and 2007.
The other commission members are Jasmine Al-Moayed, Edward Bertch, Nichelle Cline, Gerald Estella, Ruth Hart, April Mead, Max Miller, Sridip Mukhopadhyaya, Jennie Ocken, Maura Pilcher, Claudette Roby, Erick Skogman, Steve Sovern, Mary (Kate) Varcoe and Andrew Visser.
By City Charter, the mayor chairs the commission.
