Iowa City High beat Bettendorf, 4-1, Friday afternoon in the Class 4A state championship baseball game in Sioux City. It’s the school’s first such title in the sport and its first in any sport since 2011.

Cedar Rapids Prairie swept Iowa City High in the regular season but third time was a charm for the Little Hawks. They topped Prairie, 6-3, in the Class 4A state baseball semifinal Thursday at Lewis & Clark Stadium.

The Cedar Rapids Prairie baseball team won a pair of regular-season games over Cedar Falls by mercy rule. Both games lasted only five innings. Their third matchup this season was Wednesday night in a Class 4A substate final, and while the game went all seven innings, an 11-4 Hawks victory still was decisive.
