FLOOD WARNING TOOL: The Iowa Flood Center, created in the aftermath of our state's devastating 2008 floods and housed in the University of Iowa, is collaborating with the National Weather Service to provide all Iowans and their communities with a new tool: online inundation maps that within seconds illustrate the risk of flooding beyond the 100-year flood plain areas. Iowa City's map is the first to be posted on the NWS website. Cedar Rapids, Waterloo and Elkader are expected to be next.

HURRAHS! By all reports, the recent gala opening at the renovated, expanded CSPS Hall was a ringing success and many who attended predicted a great future for this cultural and entertainment venue, a key player in Cedar Rapids' New Bohemia district.

WELCOME BACK: Cedar Rapids Police Officer Tim Davis is back on street patrol, working with a training officer after spending some time on desk work. About 27 months ago, he was fighting for his life after being assaulted and severely injured while on duty. Chief Greg Graham salutes Davis's perseverance and courage. So do we.
