WELCOME, TRAIN LOVERS: The National Railway Historical Society's national convention kicked off its weeklong run Sunday in Cedar Rapids. The schedule includes excursions nearly every day on trains of restored vintage cars. More than 630 people from 45 states and several countries had registered by late last week. The public can buy tickets for the train rides at the convention headquarters, Clarion Hotel & Convention Center, 525 33rd Ave. SW. Great fun, and a good opportunity to showcase our community and region.
