BBB IS BACK: Better Business Bureau is back in Cedar Rapids after a 17-year absence. This office will give consumers someone closer to home to help resolve complaints about unfair business practices, as well help businesses improve customer service.

ENCOURAGING VOTE: Leigh Rekow's election as mayor should be a plus for the troubled town of Postville. The former state representative and city council members' decisive victory likely reflects voters' view of Rekow as a consensus builder who can help lead Postville's recovery from fallout of the 2008 immigration raid.

SAFE PILOTS: The latest of 23 Iowa pilots recognized since 2003 by the FAA for 50 years of accident-free flying are Harry Fruchtenicht, Cedar Falls; Don Gassis, Solon; and Jerry Naylor, Scotch Grove. All belong to El Kahir Shrine Temple's Flying Fez unit, volunteering to transport patients and family members to Shriner's hospitals.
