JOHNSON COUNTY SETS THE DATE: It's been a lengthy, rocky path, but the Johnson County Board of Supervisors has at long last set the date for a public vote on a $46.8 million criminal justice center. After many years of discussion and debate, county voters will finally get their say on the project.

KEOTA ENJOYS ATTENTION: A Redmond, Wash., based psychological marketing firm, PYCO, has declared Keota the country's most extroverted city, with more extroverts per capita than any other American town. This has prompted plenty of smiles, chuckles and head-scratches in the Keokuk County town. It's also brought lots of attention. Luckily, Keota is not shy.

FARMERS MARKETS: The state is on the right track as it seeks to increase access to farmers markets for Iowans who receive food assistance. Iowa officials hope to expand the number of markets where clients can use debit cards to purchase fresh produce, an effort that also will allow other customers the convenience of using bank debit cards. The easier it is for all Iowans to get healthy, local food, the better.
