Home sales rose throughout the Creative Corridor and state during September. More than 3,100 homes were sold in September, a slight increase from the same month in 2013. In the Cedar Rapids area, 352 homes were sold. The Iowa City area saw 190 change hands.

Downtown Iowa City merchants and the Iowa City Police Department may offer an incentive for your good behavior. The groups have teamed up to 'ticket” do-gooders with cards redeemable for goodies at participating businesses, bus passes and parking.

SWEET RETURN:

More than $40,000 has been returned to an elderly Cedar Rapids couple by a Las Vegas-based nutritional supplement company, after their daughter took the incident to the state's Consumer Protection Division. Officials determined the company had preyed on the vulnerable couple and demanded 'every dime” be returned to them as part of a settlement. The company, Leading Health Source, is barred from doing business in Iowa.
