GRACIOUS TRIBUTE:
In these days of partisan warfare, it was heartening to see Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley deliver an emotional tribute and farewell on the Senate floor to retiring Democratic U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin. 'Although Tom is retiring from public office, I'm confident he is not retiring from serving the public interest. From one constituent to another, I thank you for your lifetime of public service, and I wish you good luck and Godspeed,” Grassley said.

More than 388 individuals, businesses and foundations contributed, including The Gazette Foundation, to the yearlong campaign.

NEW BO PROJECT:
Cedar Rapids City Council members heaped praise on the latest big project in the fast-developing New Bohemia neighborhood. Council members used words such as 'amazing,” 'beautiful” and 'standout” to describe the $17.8 million Ahman Companies project called 'The Depot.” Renderings of the mixed use commercial/residential project slated for the 400 block of 12th Avenue SE are eye-catching.
