CAUCUS CONFUSION: The first few days following Tuesday's Iowa Caucuses brought stories of missing votes and disputed results from a few caucus sites around the state. An alleged disparity in the count reported from Appanoose County would be enough to change the Republican presidential winner from Mitt Romney to Rick Santorum after those two finished in a virtual tie - 8-vote difference - in the count initially reported. Meanwhile, it'll be another week or so before certification of the results, Iowa GOP officials say.

CEDAR RAPIDS' LOSS: As expected, Cedar Rapids Police Chief Greg Graham accepted an offer from Ocala, Fla., to return to the community he served for 25 years and become its police chief. Graham received generally high marks from his colleagues, city officials and the public during his 3 1/2 years here. We don't think his relatively short term in Cedar Rapids is reason to avoid considering candidates outside of the department to be the next Cedar Rapids chief, but we expect there are solid internal candidates who also benefitted from working with Graham and should be seriously considered.
