DRAWING A LINE: Cedar Rapids firefighters have walked the line since early Wednesday in controlling the suspicious fire at the old Sinclair packing plant property the city purchased in 2006. Six weeks ago, an engineering report deemed the mostly empty structure deficient. Saving the building wasn't worth the safety risk, fire officials decided. Meantime, lots of manpower and time has been spent for 24-hour monitoring.

DEADLY FALLS: Three Corridor area people fell to their deaths last week: a patient who fell from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics parking ramp, a homeless man who toppled from a new building in Iowa City and a Cedar Rapids resident who dropped 21 stories from his apartment.
