3 YEARS LATER, DON'T FORGET: As the 2008 flood continued to ravage Cedar Rapids on June 16, Aubrey Young, 35, was shot to death and found near Redmond Park. City officials admit that the case didn't get enough attention because of the flood's extreme demands on resources and people. That doesn't mean this case can't or shouldn't be solved. HOW MUCH MORE? Our state has endured one major river flood after another since 2008. Now it's the Missouri wrecking havoc in Western Iowa, with flooding expected to last for months. All of it adding to our unwanted status as the No. 2 state in the nation for flood damage over the past 60 years.

MORE DELAY: And speaking of weather problems, the continued soggy conditions in Cedar Rapids last week again delayed professional movers' efforts to complete the next stage of transporting the National Check & Slovak Museum & Library building to a higher, drier site. Heading into the weekend, it hadn't budged since traveling 240 feet on June 8.
