My mother, Uralee Dorman, 76, died Thursday evening after high-risk surgery to repair her heart. We had fears going in, but it was still unexpected, and we're trying to come to grips with the loss of the core of our family.
It's hard to accept that someone with such a big heart, who cared so much about little kids and stray animals and underdogs of all kinds, would be taken by a failing heart.
Her funeral is Tuesday morning in Belmond at Trinity Lutheran Church.
