Rep. King sees DREAMers in the desert

Jul. 24, 2013 3:38 pm
A lot of folks are scribbling about U.S. Rep. Steve King's curious remarks on the children of immigrants, valedictorians and drug mules. Bipartisan criticism is growing.
But precious little of the commentary has been set to music. Very odd.
So, with sincere apologies to America, both the band and the nation, and to those of you too darn young to know the song, here's a little lyrical, satirical fun.
To the tune of "A Horse with No Name."
On the floor of the U.S. Congress
I was showing off my model wall
There's cement and dirt and rocks and things
I'd use wire that really zings.
The things that I said generated a buzz
Said it was out of bounds.
The heat was hot and I don't know why
We do the same with cows.
I've seen DREAMers in the desert but I don't know their names
I'm not joking. I'd like to explain.
In the desert, the kids, they haul Mary Jane
‘Cause they've got cantaloupe calves now from all of the strain.
La la la la la la la, la la la la la.
At a town hall, back in Iowa
I threw the meat that was red.
After some heard my analogy
Folks were shaking their heads.
Immigrants are like dogs, it made all the blogs
Hey, was it something I said?
You see it's DREAMers in the desert that deserve all the blame
The real problem is really quite plain.
In the desert, the kids, they haul Mary Jane
They'll be looking like Olympians as much as they train.
La la….
After six terms, I let my thoughts run free
‘Cause there ain't no way to beat me.
They throw bucks and quotes and ads and things
But they're no match for the King.
My district is the safest for a person like me
The voters enjoy my gall.
So for me, there's no reason to hide
But don't ask me to run statewide.
I see DREAMmers in the desert, but I don't know their names
It feels good to give them all the blame.
In the desert, the kids, they haul Mary Jane
‘Cause they weigh a buck 30, their physique is insane
La la…
