"I hope the media is listening closely."
Yardy cart anti-tip plate inventor Kim Brokaw during last night's City Council meeting. He went on to accuse City Manager Jim Prosser of trying to "cover up" of information on yard cart-inflicted injuries.
The city says complaints have been few. Brokaw contends scores have been hurt. He read a statement from St. Luke's hospital saying "multiple" Yardy injuries have been treated.
He said the council "should be outraged." But the silent council did not look outraged. They also did not look convinced.
And with that curious, conspiratorial rant, I think the Yardy story has officially jumped the leaf pile. Stick a rake in it. I think it may be done.
Staff noted that the city received 73 letters on the idea of spending $540,000 on anti-tip plates to make Yardies safer. Opponents wrote 67, supporters sent 6.
