Your Fall Camp two deeps . . .

First-year players reported Wednesday. Veterans reported today. The Hawkeyes will be in gear of some sort tomorrow morning, thus opening fall camp '12, which we shall dub "Camp Running on Almost Empty."
Iowa released a depth chart on its website Thursday morning. It acknowledged the departure of running back De'Andre Johnson, who became the 10th running back since 2008 to leave the program before his eligibility was up.
Thursday's depth chart showed that junior Brad Rogers listed as a possible starter alongside sophomore Damon Bullock.
Rogers (5-10, 230 pounds) has played fullback since moving over from running back after nine carries for 66 yards against Ball State on Sept. 25, 2010. Since that outing, he's rushed just five times for 17 yards, including three for 8 yards last season.
The big headline, up until now at least, was the heart ailment that sidelined Rogers from the Insight Bowl practices until Penn State last season. He missed just five games, but he was unable to work out (we're talking run and lift weights, forget about football) from December 2010 to August 2011.
Rogers has been lauded as a galvanizing leader by head coach Kirk Ferentz and first-year offensive coordinator Greg Davis.
At this point, that's enough for a spot on Iowa's running back depth chart. True freshmen Greg Garmon and Barkley Hill are listed as the co-backups to the co-starters.
This chase could be joined later this week. Akeel Lynch, an incoming freshman at Penn State, is considering Iowa. With Penn State under heavy sanctions, the NCAA granted a open transfers for current Penn State players and incoming freshmen.
As long as players don't practice or play games with Penn State between now and the start of the 2013 season, they can jump schools without penalty, according to the NCAA. Penn State opens practice Aug. 6. Lynch is in summer school at Penn State through Aug. 8.
Coaches from other schools will be allowed to contact and recruit Penn State players until classes start August 27. For the 2012 season only, schools not facing sanctions of their own will be allowed extra scholarships to make room for players they pick up from Penn State.
Lynch has told HawkeyeReport.com that he will decide between Iowa and Penn State and hopes to have a decision by Sunday.
Other depth chart notes:
-- True freshman Connor Kornbrath is listed as backup punter behind senior John Wienke and sophomore Jonny Mullings. Garmon, Hill and Kornbrath are the only freshmen on the depth chart.
-- Rogers is still listed as the No. 1 fullback. Senior Jonathan Gimm and sophomore Mark Weisman, a 6-0, 225-pounder who sat out last season after transferring from Air Force.
-- Redshirt freshman Austin Blythe and junior Conor Boffeli are still listed as co-starters at right guard.
-- After Rogers' inclusion at running back, the biggest change on the latest depth chart is senior defensive end Steve Bigach moving from a backup role on the right side to co-starter status on the left with fellow senior Joe Gaglione.
-- Redshirt freshmen Torrey Campbell makes his debut on the depth chart as No. 2 left corner (field) behind junior B.J. Lowery. Campbell participated in track at Iowa during the last indoor season and posted an 8.09-second time in the 60-meter hurdles, seventh all-time at Iowa. He finished 12th (8.18) in the Big Ten indoor meet.
-- At QB, redshirt freshman Jake Rudock and junior Cody Sokol are listed as co-backups to senior James Vandenberg. Coach Kirk Ferentz has said the initial plan is to redshirt Sokol, a junior college transfer with three years to play two seasons.

Iowa FB/RB Brad Rogers is asked about the viability of fullback. He said he talked to RB coach Lester Erb when new OC Greg Davis was hired. Iowa will very much use the fullback in this offense. Also, at this time last year, Rogers was sitting out with a heart ailment. He talked about how much this year is different.
Iowa running back Brad Rogers answers questions from reporters during a media availability Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the atrium of the Jacobsen Building of the Hayden Fry Football Complex on the campus of the University of Iowa in Iowa City. (Brian Ray/The Gazette-KCRG)
