DES MOINES — Cedar Rapids Xavier junior Caleb Miller came up 15 pins short of defending his Class 1A boys' state bowling title.Miller rolled games of 279 and 211 for a 490 total, 14 pins behind Hayden Berry of Red Oak. Western Dubuque's Grant Kramer finished eighth with a 453.Waverly-Shell Rock won the team title with 3159 pins. Western Dubuque finished fourth.Marion sophomore Bre Smith placed fourth in the girls' field with a 433. Shelby Carries of DeWitt Central won at 478. Western Dubuque placed fifth in the team race.The Class 2A tournament is today at Plaza Lanes.
