CEDAR RAPIDS - Katie Bailey has accepted the position of head volleyball coach at Xavier High School.
Bailey is a 2014 graduate of St. Ambrose University, where she was a four-year letterwinner in volleyball. She was a team captain during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
She played high-school volleyball at Indianola.
'Katie is an outstanding person and will provide enthusiasm, energy and excitement to the Xavier volleyball program,” Xavier athletics director Mike Winker said Wednesday in a release. 'She will be a positive role model and dynamic leader for our volleyball athletes.”
Bailey will teach English at Regis Middle School beginning next fall. She succeeds Krista Johnson, who resigned after one season.
