[Women's Golf] Mustangs host spring invite, finish fourth

MARION, Iowa -- The Mustang women's golf team geared up for this week's Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament with a fourth-place finish at their own Mount Mercy Spring Invitational at Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Freshman Anna Kallqvist topped all Mount Mercy competitors, finishing fifth after rounds of 84 and 87 gave her a 171 total. Junior Laura Wilberg tied for eighth (91-83=174), sophomore Bailee Goodfellow tied for 17th (95-90=185), junior Kristine Kouba placed 20th (97-91=188) and freshman Kelsey Kernan was 28th (100-107=207).
Jennifer Lawson of Truman State (Mo.) was medalist in a field of 29 competitors, shooting 79 and 76 for a five-stroke victory over teammate Liz Lestmann, who went 83 and 77. Shannon Delaney of St. Ambrose finished third (85-82=167), Brittany Boon of Ashford was fourth (86-82=168) and Kallqvist fifth.
Truman State cruised to the team title with a two-day total of 658 (338-320), followed by St. Ambrose (350-342=692), Ashford (340-362=702), Mount Mercy (367-351=718) and Coe (379-369=748).
The 2011 MCC Women's Golf Tournament is Friday and Saturday at Blue Top Ridge Golf Course in Riverside.
