CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Bishop Garrigan High School standout Sheridan Berte has signed a letter of intent to join the Mount Mercy women's golf program beginning in the fall of 2012, Head Coach Colin Williams has announced.
As a high school freshman, Berte finished fourth at the Iowa Class 1A state tournament. She has improved every year since, placing third as a sophomore and runner-up after a second-round 70 at Otter Creek Golf Course during her junior season. Bishop Garrigan was the Class 1A state champion in 2011 as well. Berte was named first-team all-tournament by the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association each of the last two years.
"Sheridan has been an outstanding high school player on a tradition-rich golf team, and we are very pleased that she has decided to become a Mustang," said Williams. "There is a fearless quality to her play that allows her to shoot some very good numbers. Sheridan is a terrific young woman and competitor, and I'm convinced that she will make an immediate, positive mark on our golf program."
