Defending Class 3A dual champions and third-ranked Iowa City West faced one of the nation's best teams Saturday at its Super Quad.
Apple Valley (Minn.), ranked third nationally by Wrestling insider Newsmagazine and fourth InterMat, posted a 40-16 victory, winning nine matches and scoring bonus points in six matches with three pins.
Mickey Pelfrey (182), Phillip Laux (113), Jack Hathaway (126), Dakota Bauer (132) and 160-pounder Justin Koethe each scored wins for the Trojans (22-2).
