West Delaware's Lammers wins opener on late scramble

West Delaware junior Brent Lammers made a summer trip that paid dividends this winter.The Hawks fourth-ranked 170-pounder attended a scrambling camp before the school year, working to improve his ability to roll around on the mat.He used those skills to earn a 7-3 win over Hampton-Dumont's Grant Lehmann in the opening round of the Iowa High School Athletic Association Class 2A state wrestling tournament Thursday morning at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.Lammers trailed 3-2 in the final 30 seconds but reversed Lehmann to his back off a restart for five points and the win in his first state meet appearance.
